Barton provide soil improvements for A556 road

Barton were contracted under Walters UK to provide lime modification improvements on existing soil, for reuse in the construction of A556 road form Knutsford to Bowdon improvements.

Barton mapped individual layers of fill using GPS guidance and laser levelling technology to assist quality assurance onsite. Wirtgen stabilisation machines provided the lime stabilisation of 134,000 m3 of site won materials treated to Highways England Specification, to improve weight bearing properties of the soil.
